SUSPECTS INCLUDING A MILITARY PERSONNEL ARRESTED FOR ARMED ROBBERY IN YOBE STATE.The Yobe state command of the Nigeria Police Force says it has arrested three suspects including a military personnel for house breaking and armed robbery in Damaturu the Yobe state capital.
This is contained in a statement signed by the commands Public Relations Officer ASP Dungus Abdulkarim.
The suspect according to the statement include
Hassan Abdulhafiz aged 22 years, a military personnel attached to Nigeria Army Sector 2 Headquarters, Operation HadinKai,
Mustapha Abubakar aged 19 years, of Nayi-Nawa ward and
Samaila Salmanu aged 25Years of Sabon-Pegi ward all in Damaturu.
The statement says the suspects invaded the resident of one Haj. Aisha Usman of Sabon-Pegi-ward with deadly weapons including an AK 47 rifle and succeeded in inflicting serious injuries on the victim and her son, Ahmed Umar aged 17 years after tying them up with DSTV cable wire.
The culprits carted away with the following items at gunpoint:
i) Two hundred and fifty thousand Naira (N250,000:00) cash.
ii) 307 Peugeot Saloon Car, black in colour, with registration No. NSR 672 DD
iii) GSM handset (Nokia)
Two of the suspects were arrested in Damaturu and the third suspect in Darazo, Bauchi state while in possession of the robbed car.
The following implements were used to commit the crime and the robbed items were recovered from the suspects. :
According to the statement, the items recovered include 307 Peugeot car with Reg. No. NSR 672 DD, Seventy-six thousand Naira (N76,000:00) leftover of the money robbed and Nokia handset
It added that the three (3)) suspects have since confessed to the crime and will be prosecuted after the investigation.

Police arrest 3 hunters over kidnapping in Adamawa

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested 3 local hunters and others for conspiring to aid kidnapping in Girei and Fufore Local Governments in the state.
The state’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Sulaan Nguroje, in a statement said the suspects, Auwal Mohammed (28), Isa Umaru (40), and Rabiu Mohammed (19) have been terrorising Pariya Daware and Girei villages.
He said the police had recovered one motorcycle, locally made pistols and other items from the suspects.
“Investigation so far reveals that the suspects betrayed the trust repost in them by the community members of protecting lives and property, went ahead supplying food items and other basic needs to their fellow kidnappers around that area,” the statement said.

Gov. Fintiri has assented to the Adamawa State Districts Creation (Repeal and Re-enactment) Law 2022.

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has assented to the Adamawa State Districts Creation (Repeal and Re-enactment) Law 2022.
The Law which is to be cited as The Adamawa State Districts Creation (Repeal and Re-enactment) Law 2022 comes into effect from the 19th day of May 2022.
This is contained in a statement released by Governor Fintiri’s Press Secretary Mr Himwashi Wonosikou on Thursday.
The Law therefore Repeals The Adamawa State Districts Creation Law No. 1 of 1992; The Adamawa State Districts Creation (Amendment) Law No. 3 of 1992 and The Adamawa Districts Creation (Amendment) Law No. 1 of 1996.
The Re-enacted Law which provides for the Appointment, Selection and Deposition of Districts Heads seeks to create additional Districts for State, provide for the appointment of Acting Districts Head and introduce new procedure for screening and selection of Districts Heads.
Subject to this Law or any other Law that may be enacted by the House, the Council shall continue to exercise such administrative powers and perform such functions in respect of Districts as are contained in the Local Government Law 1977 as amended.
The Council shall have the power to appoint Districts Heads, and selection shall be in accordance with traditon and custom of the area constituting the Districts and in the presence of a representative of the Council and such security agents as the Council may request, but where no traditional methods of selection exist, the Council shall constitute a Screening Committee to screen and clear candidates eligible for election.
However, any aggrieved person who has sought to be selected or elected may within two weeks petition the Council.
The council also has powers to depose District Heads and discipline any found wanting whose conduct is being investigated for a period of six Months.
In the event where a District Head is deposed, it shall be final and Conclusively only if approved by the Governor and such approval shall be given within 30 days.
The Adamawa State House of Assembly had earlier passed the Bill on 13th April, 2022.

Gov. Fintiri Observe Eid-El-Fitr Prayer in Yola.

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, On Monday joined thousands of other Muslims to observe the twenty twenty two Eid-El-Fitr Celebration, Which mark’s the end of one Month Ramadan fast.
The Governor observe the two raka’at prayers at the Yola Eid ground alongside former Vice President Atiku Abubakar who Doubles as Waziri Adamawa, Speaker State Assembly Rtd. Hon. Aminu Iya Abbas, SSG Bashir Ahmad, and the
Galadima of Adamawa Alhaji Mustafa Aminu, among others.
Speaking in an interview shortly after observing the Eid prayers, Governor Umaru Fintiri, Congratulated Muslims in Adamawa for a successful completion of this year’s Ramadan fast.
The Governor advice Muslim Ummah to use the lessons learned during the spiritual exercise to champion the course of peaceful coexistence and love for development of Adamawa and Nigeria.
On the 2023 General elections, Governor Fintiri called on the people to extend the lessons learnt during Ramadan by respecting one another before during and after the elections.
The Chief Imam of Modibbo Adama Central Mosque Yola, Khadi Amadu Bobboi led the two raka’at prayers offered special prayers after presenting the Eid Sermon.
