Sultan Saad Abubakar has declared Sunday as end of fasting month of Ramadan and May 2 as Eid-el-Fitr.
This is contained in a statement by the Chairman, Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs, Sultanate Council Sokoto, Prof. Sambo Wali Junaid on Saturday.
“The Sultanate Council Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs in conjunction with the National Moon Sighting Committee did not receive any report from various Moon Sighting Committees across the country confirming the sighting of the New Moon of Shawwal 1443AH, on Saturday, 30 April, 2022 which was the 29th day of Ramadan 1443AH.
“Therefore, Sunday, 1s May, 2022 is the 30h day of the month of Ramadan 1443AH.
His Eminence, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar CFR, mni, the Sultan of Sokoto and President General, Nigeria Supreme Council for lslamic Affairs (NSCIA) has accepted the report and accordingly declared Monday, 2nd May, 2022 as the first day of Shawwal 1443AH. (Day of Eid-El-Fitr).
His Eminence, the Sultan felicitates with the Nigerian Muslim Ummah and wishes them Allah’s guidance and blessings. The Sultan while urging the Muslim Ummah to continue to pray for peace progress and development of the Gountry he also wishes all Muslims a happy Eid-El-Fitr.
Gov. Zulum dissolves Borno State Executive Council.
Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum has approved the dissolution of the Borno state executive council.
The dissolution, which is with immediate effect, was contained in a statement signed by the permanent secretary, administration and general services, Danjuma Ali on behalf of Secretary to the State Government and made available to journalists by the Governor’s spokespersons from the press unit of the Government House in Maiduguri.
The members were directed to handover affairs to permanent secretaries in their ministries.
The statement explained that the dissolution is to create enabling environment for interested members of the EXCO to legally participate in forthcoming primaries and congresses of the All Progressive Congress, APC.
Zulum, according to the statement, expressed deepest appreciation to members of the executive council for unquantifiable contributions while they held offices and wishes them the best of luck in future endeavors.
Breakinf; PDP Pastpones National Delegate Election.
The National Working Committee, (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has approved postponement of the party’s local government congress to elect one LGA national delegate earlier scheduled for Thursday, May 5.
The party in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, in Abuja on Wednesday, said that a new date for the local government congress would be announced.
Mr Ologunagba said the NWC regretted any inconveniences the postponement might have caused.
He advised all leaders, critical stakeholders and members of the party across the country to take note.
Similarly, the party also declared the Wednesday 3-man ad hoc delegate congress in Ebonyi as null and void, saying the congress would hold on Thursday, May 5.
Mr Ologunagba said that the attention of the NWC had been drawn to reports of a purported conduct of 3-man ad hoc delegate congress in Ebonyi on Wednesday.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the said 3-man ad hoc delegate congress in Ebonyi on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 is by law, null and void and as such unrecognised.
“This is because such congress is by law, subject to be monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which in this case, is not available to monitor the exercise.
“Based on the unavailability of INEC to monitor the exercise, the NWC rescheduled the conduct of the 3-man ad hoc delegates congress in Ebonyi for Thursday, May 5.
Mr Ologunagba advised all members of the party in Ebonyi to discountenance any exercise conducted on Wednesday as the PDP 3-man ad hoc delegates’ congress in the State.
Gov. Fintiri Observe Eid-El-Fitr Prayer in Yola.
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, On Monday joined thousands of other Muslims to observe the twenty twenty two Eid-El-Fitr Celebration, Which mark’s the end of one Month Ramadan fast.
The Governor observe the two raka’at prayers at the Yola Eid ground alongside former Vice President Atiku Abubakar who Doubles as Waziri Adamawa, Speaker State Assembly Rtd. Hon. Aminu Iya Abbas, SSG Bashir Ahmad, and the
Galadima of Adamawa Alhaji Mustafa Aminu, among others.
Speaking in an interview shortly after observing the Eid prayers, Governor Umaru Fintiri, Congratulated Muslims in Adamawa for a successful completion of this year’s Ramadan fast.
The Governor advice Muslim Ummah to use the lessons learned during the spiritual exercise to champion the course of peaceful coexistence and love for development of Adamawa and Nigeria.
On the 2023 General elections, Governor Fintiri called on the people to extend the lessons learnt during Ramadan by respecting one another before during and after the elections.
The Chief Imam of Modibbo Adama Central Mosque Yola, Khadi Amadu Bobboi led the two raka’at prayers offered special prayers after presenting the Eid Sermon.
